    Hi guys,

Strongly considering buying this Golf - it’s 10k.

Would love your thoughts on it as I’m not very car savvy!

    Thanks very much!

Biggest plus is it’s from a main dealer.

It’s also the lowest spec level and is a bit pricey.

Depends on what your priorities are. It would want to have a savage warranty.

Would getting this car for 8.5-9k be a fair bid?

I would imagine it could be got for close to €9k.

I’d be looking for a 12 month warranty. Otherwise there’s no point

Assuming you’re in Donegal or close to it, would you look at potentially importing one from the North? Here’s one for £6k in Enniskillen and seem to have much better spec. I’d day you would be all in for €9k probably a lot less.

Not sure what the Nox charge is on the 1.6 but it’s €2250 on my 2.0 TDI
    2014 Golf would be Euro5

    Ok, it’s seemingly 129 mg/km for the 1.6, so €1825 nox.

Another €1850 for VRT (not the €1200 their ad claims) so €3675 plus €7300 for the car makes €11k

The one in the OP has half the miles.

Fair enough I saw the vrt and assumed it had the nox included. I did see some newer ones as well for around 7k before vrt and nox but could be out of the price range, but it was mostly an idea as I saw the car was based in Donegal.

The nox tax kills the savings.

    Hi everyone,

    Thanks a mil advice.

I met the dealer this morning - The car comes with a one year warranty and he’ll sell for 9500€ but no lower.

I drove the car - seemed to be in good condition and liked it.

    Good deal or not?

I wouldn’t buy it with your money

The Mohawk tyre brand wouldn't give me confidence that the previous owner maintained it to any decent standard but the bare minimum required.

I suppose if you're not spec conscious, it's still a current model Golf, diesel, relatively low mileage and good warranty, main dealer supplied (and probably history) for under €10k which isn't bad.

It's a very very basic model but if it were less basic it would undoubtedly be more expensive, so that's the trade off.

You could do worse things than buy it. IMO at €9500 it's priced quite well for what it is.

    What's attracting you to it?

Mohawk is a Hanhook tyre and also it’s the brand that all Vw dealers use, so... yeah...

Anyway. In my opinion for a low mileage, clean 2013 Golf from a main dealer with a. 12 month warranty you really can’t go wrong for 9500.

In my opinion it's a little much to pay for a car with such high mileage.

Here's a Focus for the same price with less than half the mileage.

Bill Griffin vs main VW dealer. No comparison.

Also, Golfs are far more sought after than Focus’s.
