Hi folks, just setting up a new phone and getting this message when I try to import my contacts and sign in to Chrome. I am logged into the play store and downloading apps with no issue.

Has anyone come across this before? I've cleared the cache in the Google app but no joy.

Have you tried clearing the Data from Google Play services?

Yep, no luck with that either.

It's really strange that it will log into the playstore and photos but nothing else. Annoying as all my contacts and whatsapp chat history are saved to my Google account.

    One solution thrown up is

    1. Go to android Settings> cloud and accounts
    2. Remove your Google account
    3. Go to Google app (just the Google app with the G as the icon)
    4. Log into that with your Google account.
(this should log you back into your Google account on your phone as well, showed back up under cloud and accounts)
    5. Once you go to Google home now it should show up your email as an option.

I found that too, still no joy

Just a quick bump to see if anyone has any idea how to fix this?

I also made the mistake of factory resetting to try and sort the issue and wiped the global rom that was installed so I've a load of Xiaomi bloatware now unfortunately.

I've been having a look around again about this and I know you've searched it to death. But something keeps telling me it's the Google Play services is the prime suspect here. You would have seen that in a lot of your online research.

But could I ask you to try this again? In the following order.

    First go to :

    Settings> Apps> Google Play Services> Storage> Manage Storage & Clear All Data.

    Then Go to :

Settings> Apps> Google Play Services and click the three dots in the top right
    corner and uninstall updates.

Now restart the phone and see if that did anything. Hope it does;)

The second part of your instruction doesn't actually show up on the phone for some reason (redmi k30). I went as far as even deleting and reinstalling the play services app and still no luck.

Did you try any of these strategies?

"uninstall any updates you had to chrome then try again"
    Source

"In your android settings, go to accounts, and delete the Google account. Now open chrome and sign in. Once you go through the authentication, you will get to a screen where it asks you if you want to backup files or something. It is enabled by default, DISABLE this for now during the registration process. Complete the wizard and you should now both be signed in to chrome, and have the Google account set up on your device again."

"go to settings > Apps & Notifications > Chrome > Permissions. Then toggle on permission for all options. Reboot your "phone" and when you open up chrome and go to settings, the account you logged into Google play with should appear at the top under the chrome sync."

I'm not sure what I toggled on but it's sorted itself, thanks for the help folks.

Now I've a Google pay issue to resolve haha.
