Hi, i have a lenovo legion y540 with a rtx 2060 graphics card. It's all very confusing which device to buy to connect 3 external monitors to a single port. The ports I have are usb c, mini dp, hdmi, usb a. The graphics card supports 4 screens.

Do I need a splitter or mst?

Would this work: 1x3 DisplayPort to HDMI MST Hub (PRO-MSTDP3HD) from Gofanco?

If you need to use several monitors you're best off using a desktop computer.

Technically you should be able to get that to work with an MST hub but it's expensive.

You need to have either as many ports as monitors or a hub.

If you have monitors with display port, I think you can daisy chain them together

Not all monitors with Display Port will work. For daisy chain (also known as MST, Multi-Stream Transport), the monitor must have a second Display Port connector, labeled DP Out.

For example, if you look at this monitor, click on Tech Specs, then open "See all tech specs", and scroll down to this:

    Interfaces:
    - DisplayPort (HDCP)
    - DisplayPort output (MST)

The usual type of monitor will not have the extra DP connector. For example, I own two of these. If you look at the specs, no mention is made of MST.

The only alternative for monitors like these is an MST Hub, as mentioned above.
