    Hi all,

So the problem is what the thread title describes. The boiler, since yesterday, has started acting up. when switched on, it makes a clicking sound, then makes a bubbling/gurgling water noise and then it switches off with the status LED showing red. The pressure is at just under 2 bar and it doesn't sound like the ignition is firing.

I've tried switching the boiler off for a few hours and resetting it, but that hasn't worked. I also gave the copper pipes running into the boiler a few taps just in case there was a slight blockage there.

So, has anyone had this problem before and found a solution?

    Sounds like a blocked condensate.

    Cheers DGOBS.

There was a new development this morning. The boiler will switch on and stay on, but bubbles constantly. The heated water will get to the radiators now though. But there's a whitish pool of water that has leaked out of the system.

In any case, the Mrs panicled and called Board Gas today. So that rules out a manfix that I can do myself. :D

Anything to do with a gas boiler rules that out, on a legal basis (and the safety of your family)

Its either a blocked/partially blocked condensate or a blocked/burst HEX, if its the HEX, cheaper for new boiler!!

So, you were bang on DGOBS. Blocked condensate. Fixed in 10 minutes.

    At a cost of 169 though. :(

I had an exact problem with an ideal boiler last year. Turned out the Trap in the condensate drain was blocked. I cleaned out the Trap and all was well.
