Peugeot 407 1.6 hdi questions

    Guys quick questions,I am looking at a 08 Peugeot 407,Are they a reliable car?Also there is one problem the is a drip every 2 seconds when the car is started of oil coming from the pipe near the turbo,is this a big job??any info would be great guys,included pic

    They are not a particularly reliable car at all. Better to find a car that doesn't have a fault like that. That engine is vulnerable to turbo issues

    They’re chancey.
    I wouldn’t take the risk. Only appeal with them is they’re cheap to buy.

    Avoid the 1.6HDi, they don't take poor servicing well. Go for a 2.0HDi or the 1.8 petrol if economy/tax isn't a concern.

    Have seen these turbo feed pipes to leak a few times....the dpf has to be removed to replace this feed pipe so remove the gauze on the lower banjo bolt before fitting the new feed pipe if you do purchase..think they are around €40 in the dealers.

    Tbh the 08 407's have the modified balljoints which don't give as much problems as the pre late 07 models and once its has a good service history then you will get alot of car for you buck...:)
    But as said above if it hasn't been looked after then these engines can give problems...Best of luck with your decision..;)

    turbo, dpf, cold/ hot air redirection.

    it did do 200000 miles though lovely car for long runs down through france - had the estate.
