I just moved into this house and the pressure valve is very low but can't figure out how to top it up. Here is the valve:

I think the one below is an old one that was replaced but left there. The feed come in the white pipe. I tried to open the black valve but that did nothing?

Open that black wheel on the bottom and the pressure should rise. Try it at around 1 bar.
Perhaps its already open, if so then you can test that by seeing if you can close it. It's got to be able to go one way.

    What is it pressurising, heating?

Its an 'automatic filling valve' but maybe stuck, as should not allow system pressure to go low (and covers up leaks!!! eek)

So, black knob underneath is it shutoff valve, and the brass screw pointing upwards is the pressure setting adjuster.

    Open the black shutoff valve
If pressure doesn't increase, use a screwdriver to adjust the pressure, slowly, take your time (if nothing happens, then turn adjust it all the way in and out a few times to 'unstick' it, but be careful, as if the water starts to flow as you have it all the way in, you may increase pressure too much) if that doesn't work, it maybe goosed!

If it does work, and water starts to flow, adjust it all the way out to the lowest setting, then slowly wind in, let the pressure increase slightly, and and stop, then go another little, keep doing this until pressure is at 1bar. (now your adjuster is set)

When finished, I always close the shut off valve (as if you had lets say a split pipe, if would totally flood your house) and all you have to do anytime pressure is low, just open the shutoff, and is will increase pressure to 1bar for you and stop.
