According to the below news story from Sky, astronomers are detecting signals from a foreign galaxy, but unlike other Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) that have been detected in the past they are repeating in a regular cycle.

These signals arrived on earth up to twice an hour for four days, stopped for 12 and then started again. The researchers monitored this cycle for 409 days and determined that it could be tied to the emitting object being locked in an orbit which lasts 16 days.

Hopefully that's all it is or the aliens will think we're very rude (or we've been ignoring a warning if Independence Day/Men in Black are anything to go by) :D

They know how to hold a grudge if that's the case seeing as the origin of this is 500 million light years away!

The retrograde of Mercury has something to do with it I reckon. :)

Didn't the last set of regular fast radio bursts turn out to be somebody's Pot Noodle?
