Repair my samsung S8 or buy another phone?

    Hi all..

So I just smashed my S8 screen. I got various prices to fix from €180 - €230.

So I am a bit confused whether to pay that sort of money for the fix or get a new phone for the same price range for to get it fixed.

I came across phones from various threads and have seen the following that I could like :

    Moto g7 power
    Samsung Galaxy m30s
Google pixel 3a (port from Vodafone)

So I'm just asking you good folk would the s8 be still a better phone and get fixed or go for one of them above? I know the g7 power would be cheaper screen to fix and the m30s has a great battery..

    Any advice?

After moving from an S8 to an S10, I'd move up to something else. My S8 was great, but was night and day to the S10. I know that the models you mentioned may not be the same as S10, but the other S8 issue I had was the battery, it had just degraded so much.

    Thanks for your advice.

I don't really want to spend too much on the phone due to my place of work and have 3 young kids who sometimes like to use it for YouTube and games so I have to factor in its more likely to drop the odd time with them

I would echo the previous posters advice. It may cost you a slight bit more but the S10 is worth the money.

At the min i would be looking at €500+ for a S10.. way outta my reach with my circumstances with kids etc. I'm just happy enough with a phone as nippy and quick as my S8 so was just wondering is it better off getting it fixed or get another phone brand new?

Its really up to you at the end of the day. The cost to repair is very high. If you could get a similar spec phone.

Yeah if budget is an issue, I would get a new cheaper phone then doing the repair. The repair cost is high and it will never be as tight as the factory screen, so more likely to suffer damage from even a small fall from little hands.

Similar circumstance - smashed S7 screen a while back, battery gone to crap also. Soldiering on with a screen protector.

Bought a 3a because it's the best camera in a mid range phone and is ridiculous value.

Mi9t is great value too but lack of NFC wouldn't work for me. Had a snuff at thr Moto G7 Power too but although bigger battery is convenient the camera wouldn't be as good. The Moto G8 range is out now I think.

With the S11/S20 coming out any day now the price of the S10 will fall big time as will the cost of repairing the S8, if you can soldier on for another month or so you'll have a load of options available to you. L=hi

The 9t has nfc. Lacks wireless charging though if that is a consideration

I'm in the same situation myself, dropped the S8 the other day and the screen is busted along with the lcd. So it needs a full screen replacement. The best price I've found so far is €170. I really like the S8 and until the break it's been working perfectly fine, although the battery may need a change soon. Plus I've some stuff on it that wasn't backed up unfortunately. It's alot to pay for a screen replacement but it's a better phone than the ones on sale at the price of the cost of the screen replacement.
