Taoiseach until government is formed?

    Fairly basic question, but is Varadkar officially the Taoiseach until a new Taoiseach is selected, or does he just carry out the duties of Taoiseach?

    Leo "Fifth Call" Varadkar will remain Taoiseach.

    All cabinet members hold their offices until new incumbents are selected.

    Leo stays, he could possibly continue as Taoiseach, it's anybody's guess how this is going to pan out.

    Not until a new minister is appointed. Yes, Ross and Zapone still hold their offices tonight.

    Ministers that lost their seats continue until a new government is formed. Which could be more than 3 months away if the 2016 negotiations are anything to go by.

    If a re election was called, could SF nominate more candidates or can only the people who originally ran take part?

    Was Leo FG leader during the last election? I don't think so. Bad result for him. Some will be asking if he was the problem. Quite the demise.

    Ends was taoiseach.

    He made a big thing of being the first fine Gael taoiseach to be reelected as taoiseach.
