Currently have a xiaomi mi a2 lite, grand phone but think I might upgrade. Is there any well spec'd phones out there around €150 to €200 that are worth a punt? Had a quick look and the Huawei p30 lite seems decent. Any other quick recommendations?

Yes, just saw that thread. Looks interesting but is it locked to Vodafone as I'm with gomo. Plus it doesn't have expandable storage which is very handy. Camera looks great though.

    It's not network locked.

Where did iu get it? I've a £50 Amazon.co.uk gift card that I can use. Has it decent camera? Quick, responsive phone? Expandable storage? I'll do some research on it now, thanks

Very tempted to buy the Redmi Note 8 pro....but just afrai it might be too big. Is 6.5" a big jump up from 5.8"? Would it be too big to fit comfortably in jeans pocket?

I don't think you can do this... But if it's possible then please let me know, I'm in the same boat!

Got it for my wife last week (upgrade from the Mi A3) and it's fantastic. Huge battery, excellent screen and cameras (64MP main camera). On Honorbuy for €205 and the size is near the same, not big in the pocket because it has really thin bezels. Use the site below to compare it to your current phone size.

Yeh, reviews seem good. Though I did read that it feels heavy in the hand due to the cameras at the back? Might take a punt on it if I can sell my Mi a2 lite on adverts.ie or donedeal.

Strange thing to suggest, I find it very light in the hand esp. with the included free clear case. Spec and style for value, it's a no brainer.

Is there anything decent that will work here with 5G and a decent battery. Waiting on some of the Xiaomi or Redmi phones to release global versions with 5G but not seen anything within budget yet (up to 300).

One aspect that hasn't been mentioned is that the Redmi Note 8 uses a Mediatek chipset rather than a Snapdragon. Many will tell you that the Snapdragon would be superior. I'd advise doing some research on the latest Mediatek especially if you're into gaming. See if any reports of overheating in particular.

I do note that MiUi.eu have stopped providing their rom for the RN8 due to bricking - take from that what you want :-)

I don't use my phone for gaming. With regards to the bricking issue, does that mean that the RN8 has had problems?I'm not very tech savvy but if thats the case I'll steer clear....

the helio G90T in the note 8 pro is a new Mediatek chip and powerful.

it's better than a snapdragon 730 in cpu and gpu which is an upper-mid-range snapdragon cpu (just before the 855 chip in the range of that generation)
