Hyundai Kona - FF on stereo

I have recently purchased a Kona, and for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to fast forward (or rewind) music, when playing from my iPhone.

I've looked at the manual and nothing listed. Seems a real safety hazard to have to pick up my phone to jump forward to skip ad's etc.

Has anyone come across a way to do it, or it may not be possible?

Does the seek track up and down buttons not work? I doubt they would for ads but should do for tracks

Yes, I can fast forward to the next track, but not fast forward for example through 30 seconds of a podcast/music.

So if I switch a podcast on, I need to listen to 10 minutes of an introductory and unable to fast forward through it.

Why not use carplay. I have android and the first thing I do when get in the car I connect the phone. I just don't bother with the native interface.

Ok, I actually didn't know that. Only have a the car a few days. Will look into that. Do I need to connect it via usb for CarPlay?

Yeah you have to use a cable.

Keeping the button pressed normally scans through.

Thanks. For some reason, with the cable plugged in, the Apple Car Play option is greyed out on the Kona screen. Is it subscription based? Not much info in the manual either.

Is carplay an app you need to install on your phone also? I know Android works that way, you need the Android auto app in order to use Android auto in the car.

Could be the cable otherwise

Thanks, the menu's in the iPhone are very different with the new iPhone's. I have it turned on and a lightning cable. Still not working. Thanks for your input anyway. Appreciate it.

Not that I can see. I searched the app store. Nothing with CarPlay listed.

Which USB port are you using on the car side? It should be the one beside the wireless charging location. Make sure you enable apple car play in the connectivity settings of the car.

Yes, its beside the wireless charging location. I can't enable CarPlay on the screen as its consistently greyed out.

Thank you. Have disabled that. Tried two different usb cables and getting the attached error.

It shows the usb being inserted on the Kona. Then nothing.

Have you your phone set to storage media or similar and not just charging when connected via usb?

I saw some troubleshooting on the net but for me would be guesswork as last time I used an iphone was in 2012. (https://support.apple.com/en-ie/guide/iphone/iph6860e6b53/ios)
My advice at this stage go back to the dealer. They should have helped you with this in the first stage. It is in their checklist.
I checked today and native interface on Bluetooth does not do fast forward just skip track. It is a shortcoming from Hyundai but considering they offer both android auto/apple car play at no extra cost should be acceptable. Other manufacturers provide just one of the options or even charging you an yearly fee for it.
Your only hope is to get that sorted and you will need that anyway for navigation, better hands-free management of calls/txts.
