Freeview reception from the UK, in Ireland?

    Does anybody receive terrestrial Freeview from the UK in Ireland?

    Back in the analogue days, some people picked up British TV either from Wales or from Belfast.

    Unless your at one of the bordering countys you'll have to rely on freesat via satellite.

    Yes, freesat is naturally the easier option.

    Ever remember or seen the big terrestrial antenna on the Airport Regency hotel (now the Bonnington) in Dublin? The one that used to pick up analogue British signals from either Divis or Wales? I wonder if this antenna is just an old relic or if it's still used today for Freesat?

    Freesat is strckly satellite only

    The closest Freeview ground antenna is located in Northern Ireland.

    Buy a freesat tv with 2 tuners 1 freesat and 1 saorview/freeview - its a nice setup as you dont have a set top box. Connect the tv to aerial and satellite.

    Lots of people at high locations on the east coast can pickup Wales and NI transmitters. Around White's Cross on the N11 (top of Newtownpark Ave.) you'll see lots of large 'yagi' aerials pointing north. Same around the top of York Road in Dun Laoghaire. Further down the coast they pickup Wales.
