Heated seats - small SUV

    Hi,

Looking to replace my wife's 2011 Seat Ibiza.
Early stages but we're looking at smaller SUV type cars (Hyundai Kona, Kia Stonic, Renault Captur etc) probably 2018, possibly 2019.
    Petrol only.

I know it may not seem like something to base a decision on but heated seats are a highly desirable option.
I know the Kona Executive model comes with heated seats but does anybody know of others in the range that do?

    Thanks

Most cars have these as an option. Vw, skoda, seat generally.

They are not going to be standard equipment on that class of class of car so it will be rare to find them except for maybe the odd top spec example.

If It's that much of an issue, I've seen heated set covers before that you plug into a 12V socket, it won't be as good as a factory fitted on i'd imagine but would be an ok alternative. You could alternatively get them retro fitted i'd assume, could be costly though.

I have no affiliation with this or have never used anything like this, just an example of what I mean

    Amazon Link

Thanks but doesn't really look like a suitable option.

Looks like the Hyundai Kona (executive model) comes as standard with heated seats. No idea if it's a good car though:D:D

It's also easy to get aftermarket heated seats fitted - http://www.autoglaze.ie/heated-seats.htm

Autoglaze are the only one I can find with anything on their website, but Nolan Autocare can do them as well - probably anyone that fits leather seats aftermarket would do them as well.

Only issue I have with aftermarket heated seats are the switches - usually cheap little rocker switches rather than something that looks like it came standard from the factory, but if that doesn't bother you too much then it's probably less than €500 to get heated seats fitted to anything.

Kia stonic K1 LE has heated seats, heated steering wheel, Android auto, cruise control ext... And is near the bottom of the range under 20k, very nice car - test drove one earlier today. not that high though, Dacia stepway was considerably higher. Build quality was very good

Heated seats are worth there weight in gold. Great feature to keep warm. Usually from the middle variant they are an option but won't be in the catalogue. You need to check with the sales team for each model. All three cars you mention can come with heated seats in a various guises.

I used to take the mick out of my wife for her heated seats.... then I got them in my current car and I just love them. I do a good few early morning runs to the airport and I find them a great way to heat the car up quickly when you sit into it first in the winter. Particularly with leather seats. Just put it on for 10 minutes. First World thing I know but I'd really miss them now if I had to give them up.

I only have them in my current car but it would be something I would spec in my next purchase for sure, they are great adn i would be lost without them.

I know someone with a Hyundai Kona petrol and she has heated seats, she bought the car new and I doubt she would have paid extra for them, no idea what spec level her car is though

As a side note, I dont like the Kona at all but I dont like this calss of car at all, but each to their own

I had a Stonic overnight once and was very impressed with it - total base model but was a lot more capable at motorway speeds than I expected!

Only issue with the one I had was no A/C, and it was one of the hottest days of last year, and the car (Black of course) had been sitting in direct sunshine for the whole day before I jumped in. Motorway with all 4 windows open wasn't great fun and it was still far too warm.

funny you say that, because that is the only reason we are not getting it! it has everything else, id gladly give up some of the other bits of spec for a/c . other than that it is fully loaded, heated seats, heated steering wheel, android auto, 7 year warranty and lovely to drive :)

I know with VW you can get the tCross but will need the style or r-line. The Peugeot 2008 should have it as well. Same with seat and Skoda. Although I haven’t seen any specs for the Kamiq yet. Maybe the Ford Puma as well.

In general you will have to go for the higher spec

Some of the Mazda CX-3 models have heated front seats.

How in the name of God can a new car not have aircon these days????

If you can find a Seat Arona with the winter pack, it'll have heated seats

That's real fur coat and no knickers stuff there. How the hell is there no aircon in this day and age for what is not exactly a cheap car.

There are still alot of people out there who believe that air conditioning is only for countries that get hot weather.

I see Kia have new trim specs for the Stonic now so maybe it does come with air con now. Worth checking again.

it was the new spec we were looking at, the K1 LE , very well spec'ed for the price, but no a/c unless you go up a a model to the k2, then you loose a lot of the LE spec and pay a lot more !, makes no sense :)

I have a Seat Ateca with heated seats-executive range. Honestly I'd never buy a car without them again.

Seat Arona is the smaller SUV so a higher spec one or one with winter pack should have heated seats.

Same here ( It was a new car for the wife we were looking for with the stonic), I have heated seats in my own car (Hyundai Ioniq) and they are great on a cold morning !, toasty bun's all round ;):)

    Toyota CHR

Honda HR-V top spec has heated front seats.
Think the VAG/skoda group offer them as rear heated seat option

    Just my two cents here.

Is heated seats really that important? Did she drove diesel?
I always drove petrols and I had a diesel loaner while my car was getting stuff done in dealerships. It was shocking how much longer diesel took too heat up interior compared to my petrol.
My by just having petrol car, you won't need heated seats?
    It's just a guess.

Look at Skoda Kamiq, or new SEAT Leon, if youd like to trade within brand.

There is a new SEAT Leon on the way but not for a while so there shoukd be some great deals out there on the current Leon. It will be the end of the year or early next year I would say before the new Leon is out. It was only unveiled this week.

It's the new Leon I'm talking about and I'm sure it's due in the first half of the year.

Seat ateca has them. Love when I get driving husband's car and can use them.
(Just to add that is the only positive about a seat ateca, in our opinion)
