There's plenty of examples up on Etsy if you search for them.

Avoid those cheap pvc pockets used by some coin collectors: they tend to discolour the metal plating/coating on most typical untreated medal types.

If you wanted to be artistic you could get a bit of felt/cloth and cover a piece of stiff card or wood with it. You could then use simple safety pins into the fabric to secure the medals, and if mounted on a wall it'd allow for viewers could have the opportunity to lift/turn/view the obverse side. You could stitch them onto the fabric in the same manner.

Might be overkill for the charity 5k races but if you've a few half marathons etc it'd be a nice alternative to letting the ribbon rot onto them in a drawer somewhere.

Alas I can hear a version of Behan's chorus already. 'Come out ye Clonliffe and Raheny Shams, come out and fight me like a maan ... show me the medals you won at the Khyber ...' etc.

Hmm, with all the new Nike runners I'm sure there'd be flying columns that'd make them 'run like hell away' and all that.

Depends on how posh you want your display to look but I like these

    https://www.ikea.com/ie/en/p/lurt-gubbarp-rack-with-6-knobs-white-white-s09230049/

Wrap the ribbon around the, ahem, knob and pin it in place

These work great, you hardly see the rails and you can get 14 medals or so on each one - https://www.ikea.com/ie/en/p/fintorp-rail-nickel-plated-40213839/ I have four up at the moment - here is an earlier picture https://photos.app.goo.gl/vqJcesYUSNdeCvLbA

Does anyone know of bricks and mortar shops that would sell a medal holder / display?
