Looking for a more spacious car

I have a 171 Duster since new, but the lack of space is annoying so looking for something bigger. We have 2 kids.

I only want same year or newer a, diesel and low enough miles for a 2 year old car.

Budget of around 16-17k (which includes duster trade in)
doesn't need to be big engine or have a bit of poke in it as it will be the Family car (wife's)

I'm really indecisive, I love a car one day and second guess it the next

Currently looking at superb/octavia in saloon or estate

    any other options?

Thanks, is it really just the boot space is the difference, would the space in front and back be the same (is that called the carriage?? :) )

Is the MPG decent on them?

    Depends on the engine .. I have 350,000km on a 2011 1.6tdi and averaging around 60mpg

The leg room in the back is a class leader and the boot is massive

Superb Estate is massive and I'm over 6ft and can drive it comfortably and sit behind a tall driver in comfort also.

I currently drive a Hyundai I40 Estate which has plenty of room in the cabin and the boot.

Can anyone tell the main differences between a Superb active and Ambition? (2017/2018 model)

I cant find a defined list anywhere.

Active I think is entry level. Ambition for that year would have electric folding mirrors, reverse camera and things like that. Go ambition if you can

Yes Active is Entry, then ambition then style.

Thanks, was wondering what the main differences where, Ambition will be the go to if the price was right.

would a 3 year old car with over 100000 kms put you off? my trade in only has 55,0000 so maybe thats why im offput by it

If it has a full service history, the 100kms wouldn't bother me much. If you are planning to do lots of miles on the car, you can chance trying to get something with lesser miles, but price will go up closer to 18.5k

Found this brochure that shows the diff spec levels. May differ for a 2017 model but should give some idea.

100,000km is 60,000 miles - on a car that has been serviced and maintained it's nothing really. But make sure a full verified service history. As I mentioned before i've 350,000km on mine and I intend to put another 150,000km at least on it.

So, just to report back, Found a superb, 171 with 70k kms.

Delighted with it, originally thought it was out of budget but wanted to test drive one for the sake of it and when we sat down to do numbers through bartering and a unexpected high valuation of my car I got a great deal.

2 year main dealer Warranty also!

Delighted, thanks for the help all.

Oops too late but the Skoda Roomster has huge space, plus a raised back seat and big windows for the kids.

Great work. It's a really nice car to drive and very comfortable. If it has the electric boot, you can change the opening height to something more easier to reach for the other half. Open the boot and when its at the right high, hit the button on the boot to stop it, and I think you hold down the button and it sets that as the max height.

Other nifty features like that you may have is the dual boot, where you can open the boot full with the rear windscreen like a normal hatch, or alternatively open just the boot lid leaving the rear glass in place. Not sure if you have that on your model. (there would be two buttons to open the boot on the boot lid, one centred, and one off centre.

Thanks, Unsure of all the gadgets on it, collecting it later.

its an ambience model but the seats are upgraded to half leather (which im delighted about)

I'll have a sit down later and go through it all, although the umbrella in the door will be hard to beat!!!

Check the boot lid button at the back of the car. If there is two buttons, one centre and one off to one side, then you have the dual boot option which I really like. I think they did away with it from 2018
