I cannot see my username in C:> Users.

I can see a name that is the made up name I use in an email address, but not my first name.

The name I can see does contain folders such as Pictures. So, maybe it's the right one. But, I'm not sure.

    Might it be hidden?

    Thanks.

    D.

Your username appears (what you log on with) not your full name

    I know.

But, that folder with my name isn't in Users.

    Thanks.

    Go Settings>Accounts
What do you see under your user name?
Does it say "Local Account" or is there your email address?

I suspect you are signed in with MS account, hence you see your mail account(MS account) display name.

I suspect you have not signed with local account ever, hence no folder

Is this a personal machine or a work machine? As domain conected machines may store the user profile elsewhere.

you can find out your username by typing 'whoami' in a command prompt.

    Thanks all.

I can see a name. It's just not the one I thought was there.

But, the folder with that name does appear to contain the usual items.

    This is a personal laptop - Windows 10 x64.

    Thanks again.

at a command prompt type ( start run cmd )
    set u

it will show you the USERNAME and USERPROFILE
if you change the username it doesn't rename the folder
