    I used one when plastering my attic. Bloody brilliant piece of kit. Makes levelling off so much easier and a damn sight quicker. Bought it in Screwfix

    @Shoog - I think you recommended me a Nela Speedskim in a recent thread which I can't find. Well I went and got one yesterday for a wall of 8.5 m^2 in the sittingroom - so highly visible, and I had been putting off for around 3 months. Didn't know that Screwfix stocked them (or still do) but I hit Chadwicks and another two local builder's providers, and none of them knew what I was on about before I sourced one from Goodwins.

    Anyway, wanted to say thanks for the recommendation as it finished the job off in around 4 hours where I was expecting to take around 6 or more and it's a top-notch tool. Much appreciated! My confidence is restored and I might even mange to not get divorced. 🤣

    Interesting - I've a few walls that needs skimming and did our kitchen with a taping knife (1st time - came out grand) - would this be much easier I wonder?

    I'm here painting that wall now and apart from a few tooling marks and spots that I missed, it needed minimal filler and sanding. The trick was to keep the plaster 'live' by priming the surface beforehand with diluted SBR and then double-skimming.

    I'd upload a photo but it's of no value as its just plain white. 😀

    But yes, day and night when compared with another wall where i didn't prime and only used a plastering trowel.
