I randomly just tried signing up for this with an old student email and it worked. Don't ask me what you can use it for yet but the sign up works and I have $100 credit on the account.

Have you checked T&C as they may ask you after few months to pay for the service if you can't prove you are a student? I wouldn't advise to play tricks with those internet moguls, as they have ways to get their money from you..

They don't take a CC so they will be a long time waiting. I doubt they would bother, I think an ordinary account gets the same when they signup only you need to provide a CC but the cool thing about this is that the credit lasts for 12 months as opposed to 30 days on a normal account. These offers are more geared towards getting you using their ecosystem so overall its a net positive for them either way if you use it.

They don't have to convince anyone to use their cloud service...

See small potatoes, what's $100 when you have that kind of revenue. Thanks for the advice but I'll take my chances.
