Companies that upgrade heating controls

    Hi all

We have a 2004 built house and are eligible for a grant to upgrade heating controls. We currently only have one zone. A company is approaching houses in our estate and says that they could claim the grant for us and come in and do the work if other in our estate wanted to do it.. It would cost us nothing and they would make 2 zones for us. Obviously we can't mention names but I was wondering if anyone has any experience of these type of schemes or companies? Sounds too goo to be true

Sounds like BS, probably will give you a new thermostat for that money . what do they mean in upgrading your heating controls? You probably most likely will need a new boiler soon enough considering its 16 years old at this stage, there would be more efficient boilers available these days with smart controls that could help you zone the heating, one for downstairs and one upstairs for example. Your house is pre 2006, so is eligible for a grand of about 700 euro for the boiler installation and some other carbon offset savings of about 300 but you still will have to pay anywhere between 1000-2000 euro depending on size of house etc to upgrade

i just bought a 20 year old house recently and looking into heating system upgrades and came across the above in doing so.

Thank you. We actually have a very good baxi boiler that is very efficient installed by the previous owners who never used the grant for the boiler. Our house has no zones and the company wpiod install the ember app with controls. Would love to hear from someone that used a company like this to see if it is worth it. We had no plans to zone the house up to this but it looks like a no brainer IF it was good quality work

Not sure if it was the same company but we received a similar visit a few weeks back. They didn't go ahead with the work as they wouldn't have been able to efficiently get through our estate so as to make it worthwhile - or so they said.

I couldn't find much information about the company and was very interested to find some reviews. Information scant on the ground though!

thanks... I'm wondering if anyone has personal experience with these kind of businesses? i understand that the business model mean they do 3 houses per day. would it be better to fire out for someone more local or is it a great deal with economies of scale.
