NCT re-test deadline

I had my NCT last Wednesday (January 29th) just two hours after the suspension of all lift inspections. Passed everything tested but have to get a re-test done for the lift inspection part.

I was thinking of booking the re-test, selecting a date that's a couple of days before my current NCT expires (Feb 10th), just in case they resume lift inspections at my test centre before that date.
When I checked their online booking system last night, it showed pretty much all dates starting from Feb 2nd as available for the re-testing. Of course, this does not mean that it won't be cancelled just before the actual date if lift inspections are still suspended.

Anyway, I noticed the following line on the booking page -

    nct-message.jpg

"Vehicle to be retested on or before Sunday, March 29, 2020"

I am a bit confused by that message since as far as I know, re-tests (in normal circumstances) must be completed within 30 days of the initial test. Does that message above mean that I have 60 days to get the re-test done?

They probably extended it because of the issue with lifts.

I would still wait a couple of days before booking, as some centres are now having lifts inspections done, so probably more to be available soon.

No points going for retest if the lifts are not available.

Cheers! I did think that they extended it but found it strange that they would do this "silently" - the updates on their website have no mention of this extension.

They could do better when it comes to updates, but hopefully it will improve after the weekend.

At least there is some work going in the background to allow testing outside the original deadlines.
