Tucson or Xtrail?

    My budget is about £10k

    Want an SUV or crossover?

Have seen a 2016 Tuscon for just shy of 10k

Found a 2014 Xtrail for same price online.

Will mainly be doing motorway driving from city(London) to the coast and back 1-2 times a month. Need the space for surfboards, gear and a few mates.

What would be the best choice out of those two?

    All help and opinions appreciated!

The X-Trail is longer than the Tucson, it's really a stretched Qashqai so if parking space in London is a concern then it's something to be aware of. Most X-Trails sold seem to be the 7 seater version, lesser 5 seater versions around but don't rule out the 7 seater even if you don't need them as you can fold down the 3rd row to give increased boot space. The 7 seater would probably be easier to sell on than the 5 seater when your done with it. Not sure if the X-Trail is sold in petrol form in the UK so London congestion charges are something to think about too depending on which part of London you live in.

Kia Sportage is worth a look at too, it's the sister car of the Tuscon and mechanically identical. Sportage feels a little bit more up market though.

The X Trail is noticeably bigger than the Tucson.

    Apologies for the delayed reply!

I decided on the Tuscon in the end as it was cheaper, it had cheaper road tax too and was just what i needed, the Xtrail would have been too big.

So I picked it up on Sat and all was good until I noticed a hole in the floor beside the pedals, just in front of the accelerator (see pics)! It is deep enough for me to stick most of my pointer finger in before I hit what I think if the metal floor of the car. so it cuts through the carpet and whatever is between the carpet and the metal floor.

Now before I call the garage I wanted to be sure if this is an (big) issue or not as the car has passed the MOT and has had a service prior to me picking it up. It is still under manufacturers warranty too.

They did not make me aware of this hole when I was looking at the car, it was under the floor mats. My fear is that it may lead to rusting perhaps or may affect re-sale value in the future?

Any advice on what I should do here?

It's a hole in the carpet.
Manufacturer's warranty doesn't cover folk making holes in the carpet.
Can't imagine it leading to rusting or impacting re-sale value. It's a cheap car (no offence), in 3 to 5 years time it'll be worth tiny money with or without a hole in the carpet.

Appreciate the reply. While it is a hole in the carpet, it is a deep hole in the carpet. Why is it there? it is about three inches deep! Friction from a shoe using the pedals would not cause it to be that deep?

I've no idea why it's there but it's no where near 3" deep :)
I doubt it's 3 cm deep .......... not that it matter hugely.

It's probably from a lady's shoe heal where she rests her foot, would be my guess.
