    I thought RTE1 is transmitting in HD but I wasn't expecting 576i resolution.

    I dunno from where you are receiving it, but it is 1440x1080 here from Saorview.

    In HD 1440x1080 here, as confirmed by bitrate.com at 31/01/2020 22:42:54

    my mistake, the first one was from Belfast's NIMux transmitter on Freeview.
    Here is the Saorview from Carlingford.
