Part time Sickness benefit

    Asking for a friend.
He’s been on Sick benefit for a while and feels he can return to work part time with his doctors permission.
How does he go about that and can he still get partial sick benefits if he does.
He’s never been on benefits before this so wouldn’t be familiar with the system.
    Thanks for any advice.

if hes on illness benifit then when he returns to work in any capacity he cannot claim that any more. I dunno how casual jobseekers works if you intentionally go to work part time and are not looking for or available for full time work.

Ok thanks. He saw something about Partial Capacity Benefit online and was asking me about it.

He can apply for partial capacity benefit as long as he has been on illness benefit at least 6 months. He has to ring them to request an application. He will probably have a quick visit to the DSP doctor before it’s approved. He will get 1/2 of his current payment if it is approved.

Thank you for that. I’ll pass it on.
