Surely everyone believes in people before profit unless you’re Mark Zuckeberg? Surely everyone wants more equality.
How do you actually sift through all the PR speak and guff and decide what party or candidate to give your vote to. No issue other than homelessness seems that big of an issue to me. I would like Dublin to be a more livable, vibrant city but that’s seems a bit first world problemy. From my perspective, Dublin has a fine transport system(I live on the dart line), could be better but then I’m on it most days and generally every single carriage is empty. So how to justify more services?
I have no strong ideology, would probably vote anti abortion but I’m not passionate about it and the people have spoken.
Reading up on election, it occurred to me I have no framework on which to base my opinion. The only framework I have is they’re all spoofing and talking rubbish

Look at the posters. The vast majority are chancers, people of low moral character, and no genuine convinction. You can see the duping delight in their eyes.

It's 516 people going for 160 jobs, no big deal. It's a job that doesn't need any qualifications. With the short hours and big money there should be a lot more in for it.

FG, I expected as much. All well and good aligning to their policies if they follow through, the issue is they, as in all politicians, rarely do. Depressing.

How much of Dublin is covered by the dart ? In comparison to other European cities it’s sized , the transport is third world. I’ll save you a lot of head wreck, the candidates and parties will offer more of the same conservative **** government we’ve come to expect!

If you believed in what you say then you wouldn't be using the device used to post this because investors put profits into creating it instead of giving it to people.

As for equality, it seems to be defined as taking money from some to give to others and not as people equally contributing to society.

The reason Ireland has such rubbish politicians, most of whom are not worth voting for, is because deep down Irish people do not like leaders!

You see, a real leader wants power and control... and I'm not merely just talking about tyrants and dictators here... ALL leaders want power and control - even the good ones. And they tend to be very comfortable with that responsibility!

As a people, we are resentful and suspicious of anyone who wants power and control... we always want to keep anyone from becoming too powerful. Which is great if you're talking about preventing bad people from taking control... but of course this mentality doesn't just keep the potentially dangerous people from attaining too much power, it also prevents any of the good leaders from developing too!

The result, is a big giant pile of zombie politicians... all practically indistinguishable from each other. And not a single set of collective b*lls between any of them! These people are not fit to govern, because none of them have strong leadership qualities! It really is that simple!

But a country gets the type of politician it deserves... they are a reflection on us as a nation, our culture, and the values we consider to be most important. ;)

in my opinion were just a lazy bunch of thick gob****es that the 160 realise will never really hold anybody to account so it's full-on feeding time in the trough for 4 years woo hoo

It's a bit blunt in places and some questions could be teased out a bit more but useful to focus minds.

Only solution I’ve found is to start at the bottom of the ballot paper with the candidate you find most odious. Work your way up from there till ‘feckit he/she’ll have to do’ reveals themselves. Grit your teeth, pop it in the box, and get on with your day.

There's no point in equality if everybody winds up worse off — as inevitably happens under socialist regimes.

That matcher says I should vote FF, so it should wash out its algorithm with soap.

How on earth do I have a 40% match with Pearse Doherty?

Name one that isn't in fact a dictatorship, with more in common with Trump's US than any socialist movement?

TDs work extremely long hours for relatively average money. There are far easier ways make 96k in Ireland than becoming a politician. Especially when you consider all the hate they are subjected to online. Expenses improve things a bit, but nah, it’s a very tough job.

I didn’t find the questions on that site as unbiased as they should be. Far too many of them are deliberately leading.

69% leaning towards Fianna Fáil simply suggests that there’s no nuance in their algorithms. Anything to the right of PBP/Solidarity/whatever they’re calling themselves nowadays, the leading questions on the site would have the participant portrayed as a knuckle dragging simpleton.

I found it no help whatsoever.

Gave me Roderic O Gorman of the Greens in Dublin West

I cannot argue with that :)

Gave me Joan Burton and some chap from the Social Democrats I have never heard of for my number 2. Hmmm, I don't think so

Ah only a few percent between them all except Jack Chambers a mile away dead last. Hah probably accurate!

the only ones not actively attempting to further inflate the welfare state, other than the pensioners buy off, is FG. Ill vote for that, before voting for working poor on FIFTY percent marginal tax rates, paying for luxury apartments in dundrum. While themselves living in kips!

Jesus christ do your own research and vote for who you want based on that.

    Would you prefer

    Or
2-Old man yells at cloud picture
    Take your pick!

What's your generation? Tell us about the olden days!

Of course they can, chill out it's just a bit of fun.
I do think this is a pretty confusing election though the debates of which there have been tonnes have mostly been a shambles which doesn't help. As usual most parties making crazy promises they are never going to keep.
So you need to do your own digging really or look at parties or individuals past performances for the most part

Do you ever sit down with your mates or colleagues and chat about politics. Forums are the online version of that. This is OP doing research.

How do you know who or what to vote for?

Every time in the past I tried to inform myself and weigh up the pro's and con's of each party manifesto and that of the individual candidate in my area. To decide what might be best for my family and our future.

This time I going to bring the dog for a walk the night before the election.

Whomever owns the poster on the pole that the dog pisses against first gets my number one.

Saves time and will probably bring about the exact same outcome.

Remind me, who's been in Government for the last nine years?

those who will do the most damage limitation on welfare increases... Or are you telling me, much to my delight, that there is another party I can vote for, that will resist these rises?
