Boiler recommendations

Apologies in advance if I make myself look like a Muppet.

Boiler (gas) is on the blink for last few weeks, have called out guys to reset it a few times.

Anyhoo, credit card is going to get a whole lot of hurt because it means it's time to replace it (it's about 16/17yrs old.... The boiler, not the credit card).

Can the wonderful people on boards help me, please ?
What are the common things to look for in a boiler system?
What are the common errors people make when purchasing a new boiler?
    Are there grants available ?

What price range and what boilers are recommended?
We have a 3bed semi detached house, walls are drylined, heat recovery system in the house, I think 10radiators around the house. I think we are currently c3 in BER.

My understanding is that with any new boiler system, there's also a flush/clean of existing radiators and a magnaclean thingy added near hotpress or boiler (not sure where it's added) to keep inside radiators cleaner for longer.

    House is approx 97sq meters.

One guy we had out before Christmas suggested an 18kw boiler (can't remember the model/make, the details are at home)

Oh why can't people try the search function at the top of boards first ?
    :)

I have read a few of those threads and I’m no closer to finding the answers to the questions that I asked, thanks anyway.

Different guy prefer different boilers unfortunately, in my day, Potterton was no 1
    But that's 25 - 30 years ago.

And most are still there working strong.

    Sorry
Didn't want to be totally sarcastic with reply, but there's no easy answer, unlike oil.
