With the news that many gluten free foods are full of sugar and absolutely terrible for anyone trying to diet and that 90% of gluten free products are bought by people who are NOT celiac are you someone who will happily pay a premium because you'll fall for a line of PR from so called "influencers"

    https://www.rte.ie/news/health/2020/0129/1111762-gluten-free/
A survey by Safefood of over 2,000 people across Ireland found that 23% of people buy gluten-free foods, and 92% of those people did not have a gluten-related disorder, or had not been medically diagnosed with Coeliac disease.

Director of Human Health and Nutrition at Safefood Dr Catherine Conlon said there has been an increasing interest in "elimination diets" which have been supported by celebrities, which has led to the perception that these diets are healthier.

I dont' eat wheat as much as I can. I eat Ryvita a bit and the odd slice brown soda bread. If I eat it more then very rarely I will be in pain. So maybe I am a trend following mug or maybe I don't want horrible cramps and embarrassing stomach issues. And yes I have gone to doctors about this a multitude of times.

But yeah, not celiac, dont' eat wheat, I'm a ****ing monster. I don't follow influencers. I am not sure why people care so much what other people eat. Maybe they should mind their own business.

I don't eat things marketed as gluten free foods just don't eat bread which is not easy in this country. But I am not in pain when I don't eat bread but am in pain when I do. Purely anecdotal of course but good enough for me not to.

Yes, I am. However, I am sticking to the old trend, the Healthy Food Pyramid,

Irish Event Promotion companies just can't get enough of these types OP. Listen to the TV / Radio Ads...."DELICIOUS" - LY Lapped up by the News / Current Affairs Radio Channels at least.

Myself, I'm "off the radar", "out of sight, out of mind" of the media kings here. YouTube wants more of these types too OP. Get used to it.

I have cut back on my red meat intake, but fish and chicken still on the menu for me. Ffs every week on the social media radio magazines and papers something is bad for you and a few months later it's good for, balanced diet for me.

I don't follow trends. I don't follow fashion. I refer to those kinds of people as bandwagoners. I won't even wear clothes with branding on them - why should I pay them to advertise their product?

Unless you have coeliac disease, gluten is good for you.

My father in law was celiac and I have friends who suffer from it. I know how challenging it can be for them to make sure their food won't make them ill. For everyone else it's naive belief that people will make themselves healthier, skinnier, live longer because they eat more processed foods. It's marketing dream, repackage some rubbish and make people believe it will make them healthier.

I wouldn’t associate the seven faces with the birthing of christ.

Bottom line is this, people are better off removing most grains from their diets and focusing on real foods such as meat, offal, seafood, nuts, fruits and vegetables.

    Are grains now fake food?

We regularly have dinners that are meat free, it doesn't make us vegans
Similarly we try to keep bread to a minimum (as I sit here eating toast...)
And we generally try to make our own soup to bring into work.

What are the latest fads btw?
