A van registered in Northern Ireland UK was issued a parking ticket when it was parked in a loading bay in the Republic. The driver got delayed at a pickup location so was over the 30 minute time limit. The ticket was appealed but the appeal has been disallowed.

Does anyone know what would happen if the fine is just ignored?

Absolutely nothing and with Brexit on the horizon even less chance of it being followed up. Ignore it.

Don't have to but it should be paid.

You can be a man about it and not skirt your responsibilities, or ignore the ticket and face possible consequences.

This is one of those times when I would just ignore it, won't be chasing you down with UK leaving the EU any day now. Otherwise I would pay it, but I think you will be alright to be honest.

Update: the online fine payment system would not work and it turns out that the '1' in the registration has been inputted as an 'I'.
    Does that invalidate the ticket?

doubtful as you've already appealed and failed.

Forget about it, don't know why you even bothered appealing, should have gone straight in the bin.

appealing links you to the offending vehicle. Up til then, they wouldn't know who you were.

If you appealled saying I was delayed and only slightly over the limit, you're admitting you were the driver. So they have your name and vehicle on record now.

Ignoring it now might have consequences, who can tell? Your call.
