Replace plasterboard around window reveal

Hi

Just wondering what you guys would use around a window.

House was built in Mid 90's - plasterboard around windows was dot and dabbed to block work and you can see where mold has grown where the cold spots were.

I removed the window sill as it was damaged and replacing that but wondering should i replace the reveal plasterboard with insulated plasterboard as well while i am at it.

I might put similar board under the window sill as well as i didn't realise there was nothing there.

Is there a typical details for house like this around windows? Is it insulated plasterboard that i need?

Any other thoughts on what you might do?

Remove all that plasterboard.

Stick some insulation into the gaps just around the window you don't have to go too deep with it. Kingspan foam insulation or similar style from other brand. Then expanding foam any gaps to hold it in place.

Then put in some membrane non permeable and airtight tape into place.

Then put new plasterboard on top.

Can you provide an example of the membrane?

The walls beside the window have the usual yellow rolled insulation with a plastic sheet on top on the plasterboard side.

Yes on the insulation. Heavy gauge polythene would do as a non permeable layer membrane.

Is there a draught coming in there? Doing the insulation carefully here will bring great rewards. Bosig has a good product for here.
