    Hi,
A few weeks ago the email address that I most ‘send emails to’ disappeared from my contact list. Then at the same time I started getting lots of spam emails from what was a ‘very similar’ address. A couple of days back I changed my password. I still get more spam than I used to but not from that ‘similar’ address.

My desktop windows7 is the only time I use this email address and no one else has access to it.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Certainly worth setting up two factor authentication on any account that allows it. The security benefits are worth any minor inconvenience.

I'd strongly consider a move to a different provider like Gmail too, in the long term. Hotmail aren't at the same level in terms of spam filtering to accounts.
