How much does it cost to support a family of 3?

I know this is a silly question. I know there are huge variables that make it nearly impossible to predict. I know it depends on where you live, what you eat, what you do etc.

But I am still interested in hearing opinions.

How much money per month would it cost to support a family of three (mother, father, baby) outside Dublin in Ireland. This family would need to rent a two bedroom house or apartment. As a starting point, I have seen some nice properties for around 800 euro. They would have a car so travel costs would be petrol/diesel.

What salary, in your opinion, would cover these rent and travel costs, as well as grocery shopping, utilities etc.?

If it helps, one parent will be working and are Irish.

Lots of stats here that should help you estimate it .

Firstly as a father of 2 I'd be looking for a bit more space than a 2 bed flat.

So say they have a job local and rent a 3 bed for 1000 a month.

Car. No car gonna cost less than 200 a month in depreciation or maintenance
Tax, insurance, fuel round figure 400 a month.
Gonna need a second one to live in rural ireland. But will leave at one for now

    1600 gross so far

    Electricity 80 a month
    Kerosene 80 a month
House insurance, property tax, bins, other bitssay 80 a month

    1840

    Groceries say 400
    2440

Misc including any doctor or pharmacy say 100 average
    2540

Now kids to school, you say 3 of them. Where is that piece of string. Between all the jigs and reels and swimming lessons and "voluntary contributions" I dunno 200 a month

    2750

So I've missed a load but my bus nearly at work.
No savings, no pension, no holidays, no nice TV

40k gross and need all child benefits etc.
