Hi I recently got a 1995 landrover defender 90 it's registered up the north of ireland and I'm looking at getting it vrt'd is registered up north as a private veichle so I have been told that it will have to be vrt'd that way. Would anyone be able to give me a rough estimate on how much vrt will cost and how much tax will be on it. Thanks in advance

Tax will be 1080 a year. There's no option for defender on the VRT site so I think it's up to them to value it.

For reference a 1995 discovery with 100000 miles on it is 720 euro to vrt it.

Don’t forget the Nox charge, which will be off the scale. I’d reckon it’s €4500 on top of the VRT.

If you don’t need the rear seats, you could reg it as a commercial. €200 VRT

Windows need to be blanked off, seat belt mounts welded over, flat floor installed.
