    Hi All

The garage I attended today says my car has a " driveshaft oil seal leak "

Just wondering would this be an NCT failure ?

What would the likely cost of fixing something like this issue .

    Thanks
    Barr

Depends on the car, which driveshaft, cost of parts and labour....
...all of which will be a lot cheaper than a new gearbox...

Yikes ... that doesn't sound too good

Car is a 05 Corolla . I asked the guy in reception at the garage a bit more about it but be hadn't a clue.

Car was in for a recall and they done a health check and this came up

A seal could cost a tenner, maybe 2 hours work to remove and refit shaft, maybe an hour if the guy is good.
What I mean is, if you leave it, and somehow it passes the NCT, chances are you'll not fix it... no oil... no gears.... no gearbox

    Get it fixed...

100% , I'll get a local mechanic to get it fixed . Car would only be fit for scrap with the gearbox gone.
