Is it possible to ammend the year of a annual leave payment

This might be a redundant question but it is worth a shot

Back in 2018 I was on a zero hours contract for half of the year.

As the end of the year approached I ask my company if it would be possible /convenient to have my annual leave, so I could have some guaranteed payment and if would be beneficial for me in terms of taxes etc after a rough year. I was told that it wouldn't really matter since I would always had to pay taxes (as I was already close to 13000 mark) and they pushed to the following year since staff was needed.

So when my contract ended in the beginning of the following year, I was paid for all the holiday hours owed (and consequently a brutality of taxes on that week)

Sadly, I now realise that the 13000 mark was in regards do USC exemption and if I had my holidays back then when I was asking I wouldn't had to pay any taxes since I didn't came anywhere near the €16500 of total income

I understand that this was not completly their fault as I was the one who failed to get the correct information, even though I tried to read as much as I could online but instead I got more confused and I stupidly trusted that they would know better since they deal with a lot of people possibly on the same position. Apparently I was caught in a very specific case...

My question is, could a company ammend the date of a annual leave payment since I got all those hours accumulated in 2018? ( For them seams to be the same and for me means 400euros)?

I thank you in advance for any replies and patience reading about this foolish situation. I surely will know better next time.

Income is taxed on payment date and not on the date earned so you cant do anything about it now.

Did you get another job after that January? Make sure you've requested your P21 in case you overpaid.

+ the payment might have pushed you over the USC threshold and you won't get that back 3000 not used is €60. Same as usc
