I've been noticing when I search into Google for a business, an actual page with the phone icon etc.. pictures and location etc... Does anyone know if this is free or what's the annual fee. Do i have to add an eir code or can I put my actual town in instead.

    Its free.

This is generally automatic but you can do a few things to get ahead. The SERP listing is called the Local Pack.

Sign up for Google My Business. https://myaccount.google.com/

Have you address, phone, email, Google map, etc. prominent on your site. I prefer to have it in the footer on most pages too. The format is important so copy and paste from My Business listing without changing the format.

Be careful with this. Once the google listing is setup it is extremely hard to remove, you have little power to remove poor reviews that might not be true and your number is there for everyone to see pretty much indefinitely. As an example of what I mean, we don't have a phone number but one of googles reviewers suggested a random phone number was mine (which it wasn't). The unlucky person who owned this number received dozens of calls which led to angry emails to me and despite telling google about the situation it was only when I threatened legal action that they removed it. Even then it was very difficult to get them to take it down...
