    I’d have expected better pay.

If I had my time again I'd love to be an ice-road trucker in the Yukon - 6 months on, 6 months off, basically your own boss and the chance to witness some of natures great spectacles like Grizzly Bears, Caribou herds etc.

Do they still insist on removing your appendix before traveling? Money is not half bad considering there is nothing to spend it on. :D

Knew a man from Cork who did a few tours out there, he said pretty well every cent you were paid you brought home and you lived off chocolate and coke a lot of the time to keep the calorie intake up.
Might get out there someday was always in the back of my mind after hearing it from him about it, see how the apprenticeship goes i suppose.

    Better living everyone

Very surprised at how poor the money is. Fair enough you mightn’t spend much of it but still, for the conditions your working in I’d expect at least double that

To be fair one would earn around 32k euros per annum with the bonus that's not that bad. I reckon the actual work done wouldn't be that hard, mainly maintenance and battling snow and ice. If anything isolation and weather would be the hardest to cope with not intensive labor.

I was working in Dublin a few years back for nearly three times that and quit because it wasn’t worth it. I think I’m not cut out for the commitment it requires ;)

The money isn't great. Factor in the conditions and it's pathetic
