This started beeping last night on the panel, red light came on under the bell led. nothing on the panel to say what the fault was, entering the code deactivated it but it started doing it again 30 mins later.

Alarm wasn't set so not sure why it would do this.
I take it if it was low batt it would say? could a tamper battery cause this beeping sound even if it wasn't set? some tampers are wireless

If alarm is not set and you do get a tamper or other event like mains fail the system will beep, you put in your code to acknowledge same and it should tell you the issue.

Have you the engineer code to check the log?
