For body moving it's better to keep the material out of sight..it will be a bit obvious on the roof.

your not covered with any rental for roof damage, you wont find a van with a roof rack.

whatever you’re carrying wouldn’t fit in a big van?

Don’t think so it’s a tent with some 6m long poles longest vans I can see are about 4.5m

Luton box van with or without tail lift would be ideal.

Even diagonally on a 4500 long van with extra high roof, you’d be looking at 5.2m from bottom left to top right corner.

Looked at putting it in diagonally or in a Luton Box van but both of those options look like part of the pole will be hanging out the back (not sure I would be let on the ferry like that even) roof rack on a lwb van is the only way I could transport it I think without having part of the pole hanging out or overhanging the vehicle

Might be viable to have it transported by truck.

Luton van uses the space over the cab and if tied in correctly I'd see it as safer then protruding out off a roof rack.

The tail lift can keep it up too.

assuming your leaving the country on the ferry that’s usually a no go for rentals.

Enterprise are fine with that, you have to have your own fully comp insurance and AA 5 star cover if it breaks down
