    Hi,

We're looking at major house works and renovations part of which will be replacing heating system so likely switch to an air to water heat pump.

Can they be used with Nest (have one already)? If so what limitations if any?

In general yes. They have an online compatibility checker.

The install manual says "heating only"... Assume that's because most heat pumps have hot water priority anyway?

Heating/Hybrid/Reversible are all types of heat pumps. Google them

It will only work with the heating type which is almost certainly what you are getting.
    Just check the specs.
