    My only take on your lack of real world experience is simple.

    If the reaction time and stopping distance of the vehicle exceed the available distance for when the lights change then you can't stop before the stop line on amber.

    So if the cars were travelling at At 80 km/h and eased off to 50km/h because of readiness for the lights to change it would still take 24.0 meters in the dry and 35.2 meters in the wet, given also the apparent water on the windscreen it is safe to assume the roads are damp if not wet. Therefore if you were within those distances you couldn't stop on amber no matter how much you tried.

    Unless of course you think we should all approach traffic lights at sub 10Km/h speeds
