Smart plug for old oil boiler

    Hello all,

    I have an old oil boiler that I'll be replacing within the next year. There is no thermostat.

    I currently have a mechanical timer plug but I want to replace it with a smart plug.

    It will be a case of either the boiler is off or on, I want to use the smart plug for easier scheduling.

    Are these plugs safe to use with a boiler?

    Yes. They're fine. Just be careful that you don't bypass the 5 amp protection for the heating system. In your case this is probably just the burner and circulating pump. Depending on your current wiring , that migh just mean replacing the plug top (that will plug into that smart socket) fuse with a 5 amp one.
