Can UK Police witness form for replacement log book?

I’ve moved to the UK and have taken my Irish car with me.
I’m just starting the process of import registration and typically, I can’t find the logbook (that I packed ‘somewhere safe’) for the life of me.

I went online to order a new one and the form I need to complete requires witnessing by a Garda.
    I’m already in the UK.

Does anyone know if they’ll accept a form witnessed by UK Police?

I’ve tried calling the Dept of Transport to find out but they’re closed now.
I’m on a time limit to get this done so need to sort ASAP!

    Thanks for any help :)

If it says Garda then I'm pretty sure you're out of luck there. Disappointing for you but logical really, they wouldn't know what it is they're signing, wouldn't have jurisdiction and where do you draw the line with foreign police being able to sign Irish forms?

However, it may not need you to be there, do you not know any Irish garda? They're normally pretty loose with doing things like this and it should be easily arranged

Try getting a relative back home to go through the replacement procedure over here on your behalf. Foreign police have no jurisdiction here so their stamp won't be recognized.
