Qashqai engine bay burning smell on driver's side, can I drive it?

2013 Qashqai, 1.6 diesel, 122k miles, timing belt done at 74k miles

I began to get a burning smell that I thought was coming from the air conditioning, but after opening the bonnet the smell was definitely coming from the driver's side of the engine block.

I dropped it into my normal garage and they came back to say that the turbo was leaking oil and the water pump is leaking coolant, with both needing to be replaced (timing belt was thrown in as worth doing if the water pump is being done) at a quote of €1500

Obviously replacing them will fix it, but is that the most efficient way of spending money here? Is there any individual parts that can be replaced to fix the leaks, or is it just better to replace?

Would it still be safe to drive the car short distances while we're having this problem, or take it off the road entirely?

Timing belt has to come off to do the water pump, so it makes sense to replace.

If you’ve got a burning smell and have a leak of a flammable liquid, it’s not wise to drive.

I would maybe get a second opinion though.
