Can anybody point me towards a layman’s version of what is and isn’t required for a new residential build under the current build regs.
I am specifically thinking about whether if we are going for air to water heat pump for ufh is. T a requirement to also install a renewable energy source such as Pv panels or can we wait a few years for this? We are trying to keep costs down and may install Pv panels at a later stage when the cost benefit of them has been better established
Any guidance would be much appreciated

There is no ‘one size fits all’ for TGD L. Best advice I can give is Read around the forum. Either way you should be interviewing consultants who can assess what will comply. By law you need to comply with the building regs.

In my experience compiling Part L reports, a good quality Heat Pump is meeting all the renewable requirement.

However if you applied after 1st november 2019, its most likely that you will have to install a Mechanical heat recovery ventilation system.

Can I add that part L is probably one of the best regulations to try and beat (up to a point) not just look to pass as you'll save money long term and have a more comfortable home. eg Passive house.
