Opel Insignia wing mirror casing replacement

    Hi

Clipped the right wing mirror (electric) on my 2014 Opel Insignia, the outer casing is shattered , but the glass is intact.

I don't want to go near an Opel dealer for a replacement as I will be fleeced.

Whats the best cost effective way to repair ? Get an independent mechanic to fit a replacement mirror and then get it sprayed to match the colour of the car ?

Im not overly concerned if the electrics don't work on the replacement as I hardly use it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction with suggestions and recommendations ?

    Thank you.

Get one from a breakers yard, ideally in the same colour

You’re saying the body of the mirror and the colour coded capping are both broken

Thanks , will try make a few calls to breakers yards , I see a replacement one for 109 euro or so on Micksgarage.com, if I cant source a scrap one.

Its the colour coded casing which is shattered and gone, the actual mirro and wiring still sitting fine.

What sort of cost would it be to get the replacement casing sprayed to match ?

So it’s only the mirror cover that’s broken?

Attached is what I am left with , a lot of the broken outer casing was broken , so I took it off what remained of it this morning.
I took a couple of pictures at lunchtime , and upload them now.
The glass is intact, but very shaky .

What you reckon ?New complete unit and a spray ?
Any idea of a ball park cost ?

Thank you again for your help

If the glass is shaken then that’ll be a problem for you either way.

I’d say just replace the lot unless you can stop the glass shaking.

    partfinder.ie is worth looking at.

Thank you, have filled out the search form on partfinder, hopefully something turns up, I will ring around a couple of the local breakers and my local mechanic is working on it too for me.

I would hope around the 200 euro mark will cover it, will have to get it sprayed also to match the car.

You really need to ring places. Some have photos of the cars so it would be easy verify the colour.

Thanks , have rang a couple local and in the surrounding areas, no joy so far.

One yard tells me they have a 2010 one , but wont fit my 2014 model, the one micksgarage are selling says it covers my model from 2009 onwards.

I havnt a clue about the mechanisms/workings of these things, so would be afraid to buy it and end up with a worthless part.

How much would a spray job be on a wing mirror replacement ? Any ideas ?

This must surely be it wouldn't it ?

Mine is a 2 litre diesel SC model, 2014 model with the wing mirror alignment controlled by a little circular dial on the inside of the window.
