Can some tell me which smart heating control system to go with. I have oil heating. 2 zones. I can also turn on hot water separately I only need the option to turn on the upstairs and downstairs remotly. Was looking at hive but am unsure what ones I need.
    Would the below work
Hive active heating and hot water.
Or do I need another one for upstairs

I have 300 meg broadband and decos sending broadband all round the house.

If you wish to control 2 heating channels you will need:

    2x Hive Receivers (single channel)
    2x Hive Thermostats
    1x Hive Hub

alternatively (for the same price) you can also control your hot water:

    1x Hive Receiver (single channel)
1x Hive Receiver (dual channel - 1 heating zone + 1 hot water zone)
    2x Hive Thermostats
    1x Hive Hub

As your post suggests using a dual receiver for 2 heating zones, you would not have any temperature control on zone 2, as this is designed for use with hot water (where you would still have a cylinder stat to control hot water temperature)

Thanks for your reply. I just want to be able to turn on my boiler remotly to heat the upstairs and downstairs combined for an hour before I come home or if I am coming home late at night. Dont really care about stats. Would the one hive and hot water plug not do this if I leave the switch on leaving the 2 zones open.

You can do anything you wish with it, but not what it was designed for.

All receivers wirelessly connect to the Hive thermostat, (only the hot water zone doesn't) and non will not operate without a connected stat.
