Bought a 16 Golf GTD in the north few months ago, due a service. Previously always took my car to main dealers but I really have no loyalty to them anymore after how I've been previously treated. Also, I just find it frustrating never getting to actually speak with the mechanics or technicians and no disrespect but dealing with glorified receptionists on the service counter. Anyone recommend a good indie who is familiar with modern VAGs, easy to deal with and doesnt take shortcuts. Happy to travel a little bit.

Areas: North Dublin/Louth/Monaghan, even northern Ireland although from what I see, servicing is actually dearer up there. Cheers

If I was you I’d just drive the extra bit and go to George Dalton in portlaoise, you won’t find better anywhere.

Daltons has a great rep. I’d have no problem bringing mine there (distance might be an issue) George seems to know VW stuff inside out and gives some excellent free advice here.

If you’re talking Belfast, I got my timing belt/water pump/major service done in Walsh Motors in Belfast, they’re a VW specialist and use VW parts. It was part of the deal with the garage I bought the Octavia off. They are very reasonably priced and the car is still working.
