Overheard work colleague talking about a crime

What first got my attention was when I heard her say the words "he's from Belfast, he's on the run..." followed by "he killed a fella or something".

She went on to say "He said to my mother 'do you have any idea who I am, and what I've done?". And apparently her mother said "I don't care who you are, or what you've done...". She seemed to be more interested in her mother's bad ass line that the general story of the fact that somebody who was on the run broke into their house. I didn't catch the rest of what her mother apparently said but I'd imagine it was something like "...you'll bloody well get out of this house".

She then went on to mention something about her brother. It was at this point that I tried to ask about what had actually happened, and when I did, she seemed to think that I had picked up that her brother was on the run. When I again tried to ask what had happened, I was interrupted by one of the other girl's questions, and I think I just went back to serving a customer or something. But I kind of got the impression that this person (or incident) might not have been reported to the police. I could just picture the same girl saying "shur what would the police do anyway?". I'd rather not have heard it. But the thing is, I did hear it! Should I go to the police about this? Do the police get contacted about stuff like this?

We've all heard about a murder in our area at some point, but what's kind of scary, is if you feel that you have knowledge of a murder that no one else has knowledge of, or that the greater public doesn't have knowledge of such a murder. Anyway, I've got out of that job now. There was a few rough people working at that place. It was very trashy of her to be discussing something like that in public anyway.

Yeah, sounds like they had very low hiring standards alright.
