Anyone out there have a Bioethanol fire in their home? Are they easy to maintain/use? Cheap to run and efficient? Can you fit them into an existing fire breast that is not wide enough to take a insert pellet stove? Pro/cons?

Dermot just fitted one, but I suppose you know this. I suspect they are for 'atmosphere' rather than serious heat, but that's OK too. No chimney needed (ref. Dermot), but you would need adequate room ventilation.

I'm interested too, 'cause I've a gas fire with a long feed under yard, kitchen and sitting room, and I'd be much happier with a local liquid fuel.

No don't watch Dermot in our house. Would be looking at replacing an open fire. What is the approx overall size of a typical bioethanol fire insert? Our chimney breast wasn't wide enough to install inset pellet stove.
