    Hi,
Are there any regs that would prevent installing an MVHR unit over a stairs in a two storey house? It would feed manifolds in the attic above.
    Thanks

    nope.

but make sure its accessible for maintenance AND it doesn't affect the head height of the stairs (2.0 m needs to be retained)

You could build a specific shelf for it.
The area *could* become a place of special risk but all that means is increased smoke/fire detection.

Your biggest risk is keeping head height along the stirs plane.

Thanks folks, really appreciate the swift reply on this. Just read up on Part K and that 2 meter headroom. Was hoping to "box it in" with a door for filter changes etc and a mind to fire protection / detection as much as possible. Will be able to move this forward now. Much appreciated.

    Can it be boxed in?
Does the unit need circulation space around it?

Will the smoke detection work in an enclosed space like that?

usually these are in a full room with good circulation or the attic space. Can you place yours in the attic?

Will check with the manufacturer re: circulation space. Attic is very low pitch and the unit would be very difficult to fit / squeeze by / access if installed there. There is a utility room downstairs but fitting the unit AND the manifolds would be problematic. Not an easy retrofit and no place really stands out except my crazy idea of over the stairs..!!
