2012 3-pot Yaris clutch replacement

Hi

My mother’s 2012 1L 3 pot Yaris is up to about 150k km and the clutch seems to be slipping a bit.
I’ve been noticing this over the last few months.
My brother brought it to a mechanic today who said the clutch needs replacing..

Any idea of a ball park figure on getting this job done?

(Reason I’m asking is my brother wants me to go halves on the job, so I want an idea of cost in case he tries to stiff me)

Did the mechanic give your brother a quote? How much?

Could be anywhere between 500 and 1000, or more..
You really need to ring 3 local indies for quotes. That way you get the real price.

There's nothing out of the ordinary with having a clutch done on one of those. Granted I used to work as a mechanic, but I did one on my missus's Yaris out the back of the house on axle stands. The clutch itself would be a reasonable price too. 500 Max would be my estimate. I'd hope to pay a bit less if it was me.

Main dealer roughly 400-450. Of course there are lots of trusted experts who will do it for much, much less.........
